Using public folders on an Exchange Server
What are the advantages and disadvantages of using public folders on an Exchange Server, and how would I configure them?

If this is exchange 2007 you need to create and mount a public folder data base using the exchange management console. Advantages are that multiple users can access and edit the same folders, calendars, notes, contacts, whatever type of folder you create. Also you can control access and visibility of the folders. The Exchange production team thought they could move everyone off of public folders to sharepoint but found out after the fact that too many people used and relied on public folders, so they put this functionality back with service pack 1 for exchange 2007.

Exchange 2003 has them configured on default. Are you using Exchange 2007?
