Using ip helper-address on a vlan with two subnets

Cisco, ip helper-address, VLAN, DHCP, Subnet, Routers

I am trying to get ip helper-address to be able to pull DHCP addresses from a super scope. Right now it will only pull from the subscope that matches the subnet of the primary subnet for the vlan. Does anyone know of a way around this? Or if there would be an adverse affect on the current DHCP leases if I switch the primary subnets on the vlan?

A superscope does not work in this manner. It will only hand out addresses in one range until it is depleted and then start on the next range. You will need to create separate scopes for each VLAN for this to work. I understand your frustration but this is how Microsoft DHCP works. I had the same issue and had to make the changes I recommend above. I would also recommend that you review this previous posting.
