 using CPYTOIMPF with a cl variable
in using CPYTOIMPF, i have a CL variable (&FILE) and when it creates the file in the IFS, it has the name &FILE and not my actual file name.

Without see your code we can only guess what the problem is. From your description, I would say that you have the variable field in quotes like '&FILE' Get rid of the apostrophes(quotes) and it should work fine.
