User unable to send or save new mail in Microsoft Outlook 2003

Answer Wiki:
I had a similar issue around the office on Outlook 2007 and I found a simple work around for this. Just change the format of your message to rich text by selecting "Options", "Format" , "Rich Text". You
can send the message without any problem.

If your problem persists try turning off Word as your email editor like this:

1. From the main Microsoft Outlook window, click the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Mail Format tab.
2. Select or clear the Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages check box.

Can you tell us whether this is an Exchange email account? If so what version of Exchange? If an Exchange account are there mailbox size quotas? Also is this a direct connection or a pop3 connection? Are they downloading to a pst file?

Also having the problem but with Outlook 2003 and turning off the authentification works for a while. 2 new noteboooks running fine on Vista and Outlook 2003. Only that 3 original pc cannot send out msg in outlook. Tried everything. Agree with Don Williams that its Outlook’s problem and not OS, Router or ISP or anything else. Will fiddle around the outward mail server port in outlook 2morow. Will update if it works.
