AS/400: Control records to decide which non-Z item classes to include

The existing Functionality: I have 3 files that display end items, so when i process these items it will display only the records having the item class start with the letter ‘Z’. The New Functionality: same as existing functionality. The new functionality will be to use the control records to decide which non-Z item classes to include.
Can you please suggest me.

    Thanks for coming to ITKE.
What you have given us is a little vague. But it seems like as you read a record from a file and determine it is not a Z record, then you check your exception file to see if you should select it anyway.
If this does not answer your question please give us more information.
Are you filling a SFL, or doing a single record display.
There are other options such as using a SQL JOIN or LF for record select.
