My Comcast cable model is across the house from my printer. Way back some years ago, I used the NetGear WGR614 v6 with a Hawkings wireless print server (WPS) on a HP LJ 3050 all in one printer and it worked great.
Then I moved from Windows XP to Win 7 and got an ASUS new wireless print server from my brother and then lost connection to the Hawkings WPS. Previously, with WireShark I saw the Hawkings announcing itself on the network, but no longer. I have never been able to get the Hawkings WPS working again, or another one I had to buy when I fried the Hawkings, and I don't see it on the wireless net with Wireshark.
I am now going to get an Apple Time Capsule for wireless back up with my new Mac and three legacy Window laptops, and since it has a newer wireless router, I can use it as my new wireless router. Can I use the legacy Netgear router just as a WPS (without it serving as wireless router (since I will have the new one) by running an Ethernet between the HP LJ 3050 All in one and the Netgear router - just using it as a print server? Hooked it up, but printer and Netgear as stand alone network device not showing up.
Software/Hardware used: Windows 7, NetGear, HP Laser Jet 3055 all in one
