 USB SATA/IDE adapter

I can not get into the files from the old sata drive? How can i get into the files with out placing the old hdd back into the case

You can get a USB hard drive enclosure from most electronics stores (Frys, BestBuy, etc). You place the hard drive in the enclosure and plug the enclosure into a USB port on the computer.
