Having problems with USB connectivity. I can hook a device to a USB port and it works. I stop the device, restart it and it is not recoginized. Then I restart and the computer finds it again, sometimes. My first thought was to replace the MB. Then I thought of WinXP. Does anyone have any ideas before I go to a lot of expense? Would reinstalling WinXPSP2 correct the problem? I have a lot of important data on the drive which I can back up if needed.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Is it doing this for several usb devices?
Just to make sure it?s not the usb device itself?

If you are sure it?s the computer ? reinstall chipset drivers for your model, and also look on your computer?s manufacturer?s website ? maybe they have a fix or new usb drivers for your model.
Backing up your data before you do anything is a good idea.
