Upgrade Windows Server 2008 SP1 to R2

how do I go about upgrading from Windows Server 2008 SP1 to R2?I dont want to have to completely re install the OS. Is this possible?

The R2 OSs are a totally separate OS from the previous OS. They require a total install, as well as all new licensing. In this case the Windows 2008 OS was shares its core with Windows Vista, while the Windows 2008 R2 OS shares its core with Windows 7.
