Hi guys,
Will anyone tell me the proper steps or procedures to do during the upgrade of OS V5R4 to V6R1? I am not really familiar with the AS/400 OS upgrade.
Thank you everyone! God bless!

Check the install instructions for the upgrade. It will outline any changes that need to be addressed, and the steps you need to follow.  Depending on your system availability, timing the upgrade may pose some issues. If you need your system 24/7, it gets complicated. It's best to do a complete system back up right before the upgrade. If you have multiple, networked as/400's you may run into issues with certain jobs.

Search400 has a nicely put together checklist: http://search400.techtarget.com/tip/V6R1-upgrade-planning-checklist

Make sure you're up to date on PTFs & that you have a full system backup before you start the conversion. A RCLSTG may be in order also.

There is an earlier thread from 2009 that may be of some use also: http://itknowledgeexchange.techtarget.com/itanswers/upgrade-os-on-as400-v5r4-to-v6r1/
