Other computers can open a read only copy but they will not receive the updated date unless or until they close the document and reopen it. 
 
Only the computer holdiing the document can update it. 
 
The idea of trying to keep track of 1500 reservations on either of these types of products would be daunting.  This might be accomplished using MicroSoft Access, however, that takes a great deal more technical skill.
