Unexplained Windows XP shutdowns

I have an IBM Thinkpad R51 brand new that once it gets out on site shuts down repeatedly during the day. There was no problems with it from our local location. The laptop has since be rebuilt and had the software re-installed. Once again the computer is shutting down. Does anyone know if this could be due to being connected to a workgroup after being installed and setup on a domain. That is the only thing I can think of. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Uncheck the Automatically restart check box under Startup and Recovery setup viz…
My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced -> Startup and Recovery -> System Failure -> Uncheck Automatically restart check box.
Now winxp will show an error msg. whenever there is a problem instead of restarting. By looking at the msg. you can troubleshoot. Also, you can view the event viewer for more details.

Hi, Please check event viewer first. I think from there you will get some clue. Also try to insall Windows XP service pack 2. There can be a possiblity of some driver conflict. Jatin

Along with what the other guys have reccommended...and *ESPECIALLY* if you don't have Service Pack 2 loaded already, then you need to install Service Pack 2, and then run an antivirus program on that laptop to remove all the viruses. See Y'all! ~Brant
