 Unable to Refresh Pivot Table if Datasheet in Excel 2007 is not open.

I have several Pivot Tables linked to several like spreadsheets, respectively.  When I refresh a Pivot, I get an error that excel is unable to open the file (that the table is linked to).

If the file is open, I can refresh.  My problem is each spread sheets contain huge amounts of data.

Is there a way to refresh the Pivot Tables without opening the data files?
