When I try installing Oracle 9i client on a RedHat 4.8 machine, where 10g client is already installed, it hangs at the below point :

[oracle@DSJPPSAPPDEV06 linux]$ Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /tmp/OraInstall2013-07-29_03-59-21AM/jre/bin/java. Please wait...
/tmp/OraInstall2013-07-29_03-59-21AM/jre/bin/i386/native_threads/java: relocation error: /tmp/OraInstall2013-07-29_03-59-21AM/jre/lib/i386/libpreemptive_close.so: symbol __libc_sendto, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference
Is the Oracle 10g related paths which are already set, causing the issue? Could you please help me with the installation?
If there is already any issues reported related to this, please provide me the link. It will be of great help.
