I work for a small school - we don't have a qualified network engineer, so I do what I can. We have a MS school agreement, so have licences for 2003 server. We were given a used, but still good, server with 2003 Server installed. I attach it to a network port and the status bar shows that it is connected. However, when trying to make the server a member of our domain, I get the message that the domain controller cannot be contacted. Neither can I get to the Internet. The NIC appears to be working, with the appropriate driver installed. What should I be looking at for a solution?
Thanks

Correct, you may want adjust the TCP-IP properties for your environment. Give it an available IP address as well as point it to your existing DNS servers for name resolution.
Thanks – you were absolutely correct. The IP address was static – I put in one from our range and it works fine. I appreciate your help.
