I have a USB dongle. I connect to my company VPN using the dongle. When I connect using the dongle, I'm unable to connect to a particular company URL. This works fine from my home Wi-Fi/LAN network and VPN, but not using the USB dongle.

Software/Hardware used:
VPN

Sounds like it may be an authority issue with your company VPN blocking the site. Check with the networking department about the site in question.

I have checked with the networking department and firewall department as well. Both say that it is not restricted. I even checked with the dongle ISP. They also stated that there are no issues. I have re-imaged my machine. The same sites work for my colleagues. I tried using their dongles but same result. These sites work correctly if I am connected via Wi-Fi/LAN from home which shows that the sites are not restricted. Also these sites work when I use full VPN instead of Admin VPN using the dongle.

Let's see if I follow what is going on. You work computer will not connect to the site regardless of whose dongle you use. Everything work fine from home. Is this a different computer or a laptop that you take back and forth? Have you tried using your dongle on a co-workers computer to eliminate this as the problem. Is sounds like there is something going on with your work PC if nobody can connect to that site. What browser are you using and have you checked to see that the site is not blocked on your work computer? Check your firewall settings as well to see if it's blocked. Check out this link on how to block access to certain URL's.

Yes. My work computer does not connect regardless of the dongle. Its a laptop that I work on. Yes I have tried my dongle on different machine, it works, at the same time I have tried different dongle on my machine which does not work. As I mentioned earlier I have re installed the operating system as well. I have tried on Chrome, IE & Fire Fox. Firewall team also confirmed that it is not blocked since it works fine from office LAN/WIFI & home WIFI/LAN.

It looks like after all the info you provide the issue is with your work laptop. If your dongle works else where that piece of equipment is not the problem. What OS did you reinstall? I'll poke around a bit more and see if I can come up with anything else. It sounds like a setting on your local PC somewhere is blocking that site from being accessed. This is because other users dongles prevent access to the same site from your laptop.

This issue is pretty common if certain applications are running over odd protocols or port numbers. That would go back to a filtering issue. It still sounds like there's something in between that is preventing it from happening. It might not be a bad idea to sit down with one of your network or security admins and show them specifically what is happening.

Thank you for the responses. I would sit with the Network team and the Local IT again to check the steps mentioned above.

Are you asking about HTTP: and HTTPS: protocols? (Or a different protocol?) Does one work while the other does not?
