We had this issue last month during a migration from exchange 2007- 2010. We found outside the newtork, outlook apprears to have an issue with antivirus software being active ( Norton) . you'll need to disable or uninstall the antivus , configure outlook to point to exchange and then enable or install behind. If it's still pesty, You may want to add the IP address the LMhost file.

i would suspect that you are having a firewall issue on your local machine or local network. Turn off any firewall software that is installed on your machine. If you are able to connect then, the problem is with your local machine, and you would need to open the appropriate ports to allow the traffic through. If there is still no joy, this means that you have a firewall in your local router which would need to be configured properly for Outlook Anywhere to work.

You need to have port 443 open for Outlook to successfully communicate in this manner. This port should already be open, since it is the one used for secure communications. Often, though, you may also need to have port 135 as well, if you are using RPC over HTTP. You can lock this communication down to your mail server, as it is not one that you would want to have open to just anyone.
