I have Windows 8 installed with IE10 browser. But there are certain websites made using IE8. Is it possible to replace IE10 with IE8? Or does having both versions installed pose some problem?

As far as my knowledge, it will not let u run both versions smoothly on same pc. Instead, it is better to use browser emulation which is found within F12 developer Tools. From there u can manage ie10 to behave as though it were IE8.
Else, u can uninstall ie10 and install ie8 for ur purpose.

If your browser is not displaying it properly, click the icon for compatibility mode. It's in the address bar and looks like a torn piece of paper. As far as I know only 1 version of IE can exist. Maybe if you are partitioning or using a virtual machine you might be able to run 2 versions.

dont think you can have 2 different versions running at the same time. Maybe another solution is to use other web browser at the same time

As far is a know, it is not possible.  But It only possible if you have partitioned your hard disk or drive and have two different operating system installed on it. Then you can install different versions of IE on both
