I've just joined this organization about 7 months ago... they utilize Lotus Notes for their email/calendar application... completely unfamiliar, I've sought out any and every training I could find. Now I'm trying to help them simplify their current processes - but I'm meeting a lot of resistance - and I'm looking for help to explain my findings and rebut their arguments... This all revolves around scheduling meeting rooms/spaces...
the IT director right now wants everyone to sign in to a separate lotus notes account they've created - and book all meetings through that one avenue. Problem is - many people have "discovered" they can simply book the room/resource through their own Lotus Notes calendar - so they often skip this duplication step.
I do have the IT director convinced this is a problem - the argument I received here was that there was a need to be able to see all rooms on one screen. I showed the director how to do this. Argument defeated.
Now the argument I'm receiving is that there is a need for people to be able to view the room availability through the mobile application. (I think the director is grasping at straws to try to figure out some way to keep the current method - change apparently hurts them too much.) So now I reach out to the experts here... Is there a way to view room/resource availability via the traveler?
