Trying to enter back into a field

Analytical tools, Careers

I'm trying to re-enter back into the Business Analyst field. My previous employer changed the tasks until I was no longer utilizing my skills. This job I stayed with for 2 1/2 yrs. What do I need to brush up on? I see tons of Business Analyst positions however, for the most part all require programming skills or the familiarity of many. I'm not a programmer, therefore, I do not know code. When did Business Analyst positions require code? Any ideas on where to start? I see a lot of positions asking for Oracle.

These says I've seen quite a few BAs working very closly with developers as well as the business units in order to help the business explain the issues that they are seeing with software applications. It's typically much easer to do this when you have a good understanding of the software used to write the software.

They probably aren't looking for actual code reading skills, but more likly that they are looking for people who understand the concepts that the developers use to write the software. I'd submit yourself for these posisitons anyway. The best way to findout what the changes in the field are would be to take a couple of interviews and see exactly what they are asking.
