I want to transfer an externally defined data file from the as400 directly into an excel file format, then send the file via email. I have email already set up. My problem is getting the file translated correctly for excel. I do not have client access. I have used cpytopcd for spool files, but don't know how to copy for an excel file. I do not have CCSID 65535 (I believe the CCSID table goes to 65533 ot 65534).

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Hi,

You might find the CPYTOSTMF command works for this.

CPYTOIMPF FROMFILE(LIBRARY/DDSFILE)
TOSTMF(‘/IFSFolder/IFSFile.CSV’)

Should create a comma separated file that you can import to excel.

Regards,

Martin Gilbert.

The CPYTOIMPF command is something we use with great success; you can specifiy the string and field delimiter you want (for .csv into Excel, you will want for example to specify a FLDDLM(',') to get a comma delimited file. This command seems to have more options available that the others that are available.

Why not use the Excel addins from Client Access. If you get garbage go into properties and check the convert CCSID checkbox
