Hi, I am currently using Oracle 10g. I am trying to develop a calendar function. Is there anyway that Oracle can automatically trigger a procedure based on a data field in a table? For example when the date field matches today's date.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Please elaborate what you are trying to achieve. There are some date functions available in Oracle and may be you can use some of them.

10g has a new scheduling feature which is just so much better than the DBMS_JOB package that was used from 8.0.5, as from what I understand of your question, you want something that will wake up at the same time every day and perform some pl/sql routine that checks the date and then invokes another routine or self-contained procedure dependent on the date or whatever criteria you set. there is a good write-up on the 10g scheduler at: http://www.oracle.com/technology/oramag/oracle/04-jul/o44tech_dba.html Hope that helps.
