Transferring Lotus Notes data from a Palm Zire 72 to BlackBerry Pearl

Palm, BlackBerry Devices, Lotus Notes, BlackBerry

I have a Palm Zire 72 and will be buying a Blackberry Pearl today. I want to transfer all of my Lotus Notes Domino data from the Palm to the new Blackberry. Is there software that I need to purchase in order for this transition to go smoothly? I have both my Palm software and Lotus Notes client on my personal computer.

You can probably perform a direct data transfer wirelessly between the devices but the best way is to simply install the software that comes with the BlackBerry Pearl, most likely the Desktop Redirector and use that to synchronize the data on the computer with the handheld device. Having more than one conduit intalled may lead to problems so you may need to uninstall the software that came with the Palm beforehand. Keep the Palm charged until you are certain that all of your data has been correctly synchronized with the BlackBerry. If the device loses power and does not have a battery backup you may lose data and not be able to recover if you experience problems during the migration process. If your organization is using a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, you may be able to synchronize your data that way.
