Too many XP profiles

We have over 100 XP local profiles on our library machines. The users use thier own respective usernames to log onto our domain. We dontnor plan on using roaming profiles. Is there a way to delete the local profiles quickly without doing them one at at time? Is there a way to limit the number of local profiles created on the machine?

I would wipe the drive and start over. Who's responsible for creating the profiles? It seems to me that Administrative control is required.

Who’s responsible for creating the profiles?…the profiles are created by default when the users log onto the machine.
whizzconsult, FYI logging on to a domain will create a local profile on the computer, there are ways to prevent it, but that is not the situation he has ask help with and there in no reason to wipe the drive and start over.
In many enviroments this is a common ‘problem’. I recommend that you go to this site http://www.cis131.com/scripts/#Classes and download the appropiate scripts. I am not the author of the scripts but I thank him daily as I use the Clean Remote Profiles 1.0 script. Modify the script and put your computers into an OU for which you want to delete the profiles. Run the script from the server after hours with the workstaions powered on but not logged on. As examples, schools I work with I use LAB, Library and others so I can delete the profiles as required.
You will have to check the computers individually as if the user is no longer on your domain, then the profile deletion will fail. You can also use the Clean Profiles and run on the local computer which seams to also work.
Hope this helps and you may want to look at a policy to delete the pofile at logoff. I would also recommend you look at Microsoft’s Shared Computer Toolkit for XP as this is also a nice solution for many public use computers. It just came out of Beta testing and it is still FREE.

I use it all the time. I work at a college and use this profile on over 600 computers due to the fact that the students could not log in when too many profiles were created and the disk ran out of space. If you have any problems with the link or implementing it let me know…
Thanks dwiebesick..your solution worked awesome. I just have one more question as I am fairly new to scripting. I applied the script to an OU with the computers in it. The script worked great on shutdown. I then tried to use it as a Logon or logoff script. It wouldnt run for some reason. Any ideas?
