This looks promising ! To complement this new feature, I think we should find a way to encourage users to approve the answers to their questions when they consider them to be helpful, as it is a feature that is currently being highly underused. Also, maybe in the future different levels of approvement could be implemented and points awarded accordingly, because unfortunately sometimes points become a perverse incentive due to the fact that any answer, good or bad, helpful or not, gives the same amount of points (with the exception of approved ones, which as I mentioned before are the minority) Congrats for this new feature !.

This looks really nice. Are these retroactive with questions already answered or are we all stating fresh?

I can sit and carefully watch
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre:
I can hear the lines as they exist in the movie "Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges! I don't have to show you any stinkin' badges!" these are great lines. But it's immediately overwritten in my head by the lines from
      Blazing Saddles
"Badges? We don't need no stinking badges." Phil and to think Carlos wouldn't give me points/er.. badges for this entry!

I count 16 different Badges, many with similar-at-a-glance icons. It's going to be hard for most users to figure out exactly what a badge means. I would recommend a "mouseover" feature where holding the cursor over a badge pops up an explanation of what the badge is and what it means (ex., "This Certified Brainiac has contributed at least 100 accepted answers)

When I'm scrolling through the IT Discussions, none of the links go to the questions today. They all go back to IT Questions. Tom

Nice visual indication of whether the answer is reliable, because the badge(s) indicate a declared area of expertise. Carlosdl has a valid point about approving answers, however, most of the posts are from new users, who are in a hurry for an answer, so they may not remember to close the post, in their relief at getting a solution. I have used the tick to indicate a solution I thought answered a question, (which had been free from new posts for a while,) but does that close the question posted?

Thanks for all of the feedback! @Carlos: We definitely agree and welcome any suggestions as to how to increase approved answers. Users who have asked a question have the ability to approve the answer served as their solution, so hopefully this will aid in that going forward. We delete unhelpful or spammy answers, and we will be diligent in removing points associated to these answers. @CharlieBrowne: The badges are rewarded on a retroactive basis, but prizes will be awarded based on points earned going forward. @StevenG7: At the moment, all of that information is available on each person's profile page. For a complete list of badges, check out the ITKE profile or the Badges FAQ page. @Shillu: Featured member badges will be added manually going forward, and I've gone in and added them for the past two months. @Chippy: Questions are always open to new answers and discussion, though once an answer is approved, it is displayed unalterable in the Answer Wiki. Thanks again for all of your feedback and discussion! Never hesitate to add your questions to this forum or send us an email direct at ContactUs@ITKnowledgeExchange.com. Thanks, Melanie

Not to be a pain, but I'm missing the "Featured Member" and "Contest Winner" badges. When displaying the badges it appears that its only showing the first in the list. For example when you look at my badges to the left of this comment you'll see the Networking badges. Might be better to show how many first level, how many second level, how many third level as showing the full list would make every page very long for some of us.

For my questions I dont see the green arrow to approve answers. Also when I go to the detailed expertise area (top 50 in each area) it show I have not asked any questions but I know I have asked several in the development area. Wonder why those dont show up for me.

"I’m missing the “Featured Member” and “Contest Winner” badges." Same here. Maybe those are not retroactive.

I am guessing those ones are not retroactive as I do not have them either. :-)

@Carlos and Technochic: I've awarded you those badges. We are chipping away at manually awarding these badges to those we have on record. Let us know if there are any other inconsistencies! Thanks, Melanie
