To use Staging Server as temporary data storage
In the situation like this - the main data server located in Building A and users located in Building B which has very slow network that effect data updating process. Is it possible to have a staging server at Building B to cater the updating and this server then will send the updated data to the main server in Building A every night (scheduled)?

Answer Wiki:
Yes, you can leverage a staging server in building B, then transfer the data to Building A when needed. If you are going to be moving data between buildings/network segments across a slow speed data connection, then your best bet would be to leverage compression technology such as "7Zip" or "WinZIP" for Windows or "compress" on UNIX to reduce the amount of data you need to move across the network, then unzip/uncompress the data on the destination system once the files arrive.

I believe everything can be done thru schedule. Is your network running on GB? maybe by changing the network speed might help to improve the performance of your network
