Error when demoting Windows Server 2003 Active Directory


Active Directory, Windows Server 2003, Domain Controller, DCpromote, Demote Active Directory, Demote Domain Controller

i want to demote my windows 2003 active directory,but whenever i used the command "dcpromo" it gives me message that the domain does not exist....so how should i demote that server???

Sounds like there are a lot of problems with the domain controller. I suggest a fresh OS install. You can clean up the metadata in Active Directory using this link. Once all the metadata is cleaned from AD, you can use the re-installed server for any purpose you want including promoting it back as a domain controller.
