We have an IBM Thinkpad that is giving us a "Fan Error" message during boot up. The fan has been replaced and we still get the same error message. Anyone have any thoughts on how to fix the problem? TIA.

The fans in these little workhorses expire quickly when in constant operation. Replacing the fan typically resolves the issue. If re-seating the heatsink does not work, there may be a problem with the motherborad connector.
Hi everyone!
I have an important information…
My T42 was with the same problem: “Fan error” and then dead.
I restart and press ESC+F1
This put you in a Setup Ibm bios, go to the Power section, and then change the configuration to standard configuration -old values or preview values, anyway, the same as when was new.
Then restart and enter the bios again. Check if is changed and then restart again.
And then..Bingo! You´re out of black screen..I was lucky cause really works…
Bye everyone and please visit my country Brazil and my city Sao Paulo, but NOT the Rio de Janeiro – its a fake city.
