The WebSphere Webfacing Tool
I'm currently evaluating the webfacing tool for a proposal, and my question is if this tool is only available for iseries or is there a version of WebSphere developer for windows platforms that enables webfacing tool? I've managed to work and build some demos using WebSphere Server and WebSphere Site Developer for Windows, but the problem is that redesigning the old 5250 screens to JSP is very time consuming and more troublesome is creating the java classes as a middleware to communicate between RPG/COBOL and java. Could you please help me?

Answer Wiki:
The Web Facing function (5250 DDS to JSP) is a standard part of the WebSphere Design Studio Client. There is a great Redbook out on the process also as well as numerous books from 29th STreet press. This facility will easily handle all the conversion and JSP work for you without having to touch a line of the RPG code.

Are you looking for a “free” solution such as WebFacing, or are you willing to look at a commercial tool? PSC/400 does exactly what you are trying to do: it converts your DDS to JSPs and does it with a single green screen command.
