I have a handful of netgear FS726TP and FS728TP switches deployed in this organization. The FS728's have a MAC address and IP table feature, but I cannot find the same functionality in the FS726s. I want to telnet into the device from CMD, but I am receiving the normal error: "Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed" According to documentation, including the switch's user manual, the telnet interface is supposed to be there. How do I go about accessing the device in this way? -Schmidtw

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Did you try and do a portscan on that FS726s? Telnet may have been disabled previously.

Not sure what you mean.

He means to scan for open ports to that device. You should use a console connection to verify the remote administration settings.

Yes, use a console cable to do a console connection. If you still fail to connect to the device, then see if you can log on it through typing ip address on the web browser.

I'm able to access the device by IP address. I know the device is working, and I know devices connected to it are recieving the network as they should. That is not the issue. Connectivity for web-management is fine, but I want to know if I can telnet into the device to obtain a MAC address table and or IP address table. I cannot find the feature in the web-based management, and this is why I ask. -Schmidtw
