 Telecommunications puzzle
I am a land surveyor in the process of relocating my business. I want to have internet, phone (I'm out in the woods so I'll need a cell also), communication of data from remote locations, I guess some clients may still need faxes. We got rid of our (Home land line) still have the biz land line for faxing and I believe I remember them saying it was necessary to get a yellow pages listing. I don't have GPS yet. It's come down in price (15-20K) for survey grade. I've been trying to find out all I can about VOIP and I downloaded the software at Skype which would, to my understanding, enable free phone via broadband to other Skype users in the US and minimal charges outside US. Long story short and the answer will probably change with each passing day. What would be the best set up for communication of voice and data having home, office, and mobile locations? I don't believe I need office land line, home landline, broadband at both, cell phone for me, wife, fax?, wireless broadband for laptop....... when is the next Survivor Casting Call? Then we get into service providers, billing, coverage don't want to pay roaming or long distance. I'm moving to Somerset Kentucky a rural area and working this all out is becoming a job in itself. I know the potential for savings has got to be great and I can see why no one wants to offer everything because then we'll see we don't need all of this. I can't believe that some day I won't be able to take care of all of this via satelite especially with what I'll pay for survey grade GPS. HELP! Mike
