TCP/IP Netbios Helper – Can it be disabled?
I'm trying to eliminate some NetBIOS traffic from a new 2003 AD domain recently upgraded from NT4. I've disabled Netbios over TCP/IP without any negative effects, but stopping the TCP/IP Netbios Helper on WinXP clients seems to bring NETLOGON-type functionality to a halt, and I don't get name resolution for things like drive mapping. Is NetBIOS still required, or is there something wrong with name resolution on my domain? Or something else?

Answer Wiki:
Hi. It looks like you use netbios names at the drive path for mapping. Try using DNS names. Also look that every thing is working Ok with your internal DNS resolution. If you have several zones, verify the zone that your PC clients are using for name resolution.
