We are having issues printing tax receipts from AS/400. Other applications print fine.

Ok, found out that the printer we were printing tax receipts too is no longer in existence.  How can I either assign this old printer to a new printer queue (PRT1 which is gone and assign PRT1 to print to PRT3) or change the application Tax Receipt application to print to PRT3 and remove PRT1 from AS400 as a choice.

You'll need to provide more information. Application, detailed problem description, what you have tried to do to fix it that hasn't worked, etc.

Are the receipts going to an output queue? If so, are they in the queue? If so, is the queue released? If so, is a writer attached to the queue? If so, is the writer active?

Check the queue, if the print pauses at that particular time. Clear the queue and restart the printer again and see if that helps.

More info is needed. What program/software is generating them. Can you see them on the system before they print? What OUTQ are they being sent to? Is that OUTQ attached to an active printer? Did the job run correctly? It could be a number of things, so we can only guess unless we get more information.

I get calls from users "my xxx report isn't printing", turns out the job is still in the jobq as another job is active in the subsystem in a single threaded queue.

So, has the job run, is the output in a jobq? is it in the correct jobq?  Is the physical printer on? Is the IP addressing correct to that printer?  So many questions we could ask. What have you checked?  Have you been able to print tax receipts to this printer before?

More than once I have had to reboot the printer when things are not printing.

Who wrote the Tax Receipt application? Without knowing this it's not possible to tell you how to do it in the application without knowing the configuration menus.

jaybird1157, is your target printer a network printer? If so, just create another device description named PRT1 but pointing to the same IP address as PRT3.
