Is the IT work environment comfortable with tattoos that show, or would it prevent me from acquiring a job?

There is no one answer to this question; it’s a matter of corporate policy & culture.

Most IT work environments are accepting of tattoos provided they are not “obscene” or overtly sexual (a tattoo of a large-breasted woman, for example, might not be appropriate to female co-workers).

The major exception would be if your IT job involved face-to-face marketing or meeting with external clients. In that case, a company may feel excessive tattoos would not be appropriate.

Be aware that even if co-workers accept visible tattoos, the HR person doing your hiring interview may have subconscious prejudices against tattoos.

Tattoos are like anything else, they may or may not make a difference. We all know these types of stories: guys with long hair, girls with too short skirts, too fat, too ugly, not dressing appropriately, wrong skin color, wrong accent, etc. We are all human. We all have some prejudice(s).

it varies from country to country, workplace to workplace. I personally dont vouch for it.
