Task Microsoft Exchange server reported error 0×8004
While I was working with Exchange server an error suddenly cropped up saying “task Microsoft Exchange server reported error 0x8004”and after this I was not able to work with Exchange server database. Then I restored the database from the backup but this operation was not successful. And again the error message “task Microsoft Exchange server reported error object could not found” came up. Then what should be done to now to read emails from users mailboxes.

Software/Hardware used:
Exchange Ver: 2007, windows 7

Answer Wiki:
In my views; now you need to re-install your exchange server. But after doing same you will lose your email database. You can do one thing first; copy your edb file from exchange server locally and user any edb to pst converter tool. As a result you will get the mailboxes from edb to pst format; I hope the tool will first repair and then export the mailbox. And then re-install your exchange server and import these pst files into exchange server again. It should work for you; i guess. please let me know if you will find the solution with same way. meanwhile i will try to search our more..

Re-installing the server could be very cucumbersome. Its better to use some Exchange recovery method. Luckily, Microsoft offers free inbuilt uitlites for repairing the corrupt Exchange database. You can use Eseutil & Isinteg commands to fix this issue. To know more about these free utilities check:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996436%28v=exchg.65%29.aspx
