Deciding between multicasting vs. broadcasting in LAN
Would anyone know if there’s an advantage to using a multicast group for sending messages (instead of broadcasting them to a specific port)? When it’s broadcasting, computers that don’t want the messages actually still receive them. Does that affect their performance / traffic? Don’t the computers just dump the message immediately? Thank you.
