When I open a .dot Word file from the internet, "File" disappears from the tool bar, so I cannot save the completed document.  How can I save the thing?

Microsoft Word was removed from my desktop, but documents are in a bunch of folders in a different folder. How do I restore the Word icon that was removed on desktop and have all of my Word documents restored into the original icon on the desktop?
