How to Virtualise a legacy Windows NT server
You can use the VMware converter to do this. It’s a free download available on the VMware site. The only thing that the free version won’t do it build a machine to an ESX server. If you have Virtual Center this will give you the license required to deploy a converted virtual machine to an [...]

Hi, We recently migrated from 5.5 to 2003 exchange server. It sounds like you have to use the AD account cleanup wizard to merge the duplicate accounts. We had to manually add the “self” account to some of our mail clients profile in AD after the migration. Some worked fine and we did not have [...]

I’m not sure if this is applicable to your situation but some things that can force the OL LOgin Dialog include: 1) Password protected file even if the password is blank. 2) Selecting the option ‘Prompt for a profile to be used’. Does Symantec backup exec11d supports IBM LTO-3 ?
LTO 3 is an open format, and as far as I know, backup exec supports it. I would start with a call to Symantec to see if you have any configuration problems- aside from this general advice, I would need more detailed information about what’s going wrong. Is your server seeing the drive? Are you [...]

Can’t Upgrade to SQL Server 2005
When upgrading from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005 you must follow the edition upgrade rule. The rule says that you must upgrade to the same edition or higher. If several users are simply running <a href=”http://itknowledgeexchange.techtarget.com/sql-server/back-to-basics-the-select-statement/”>SELECT</a> statements against the same table and getting locked up then you may need to look at your indexes. We have set up Network Load Balancing (NLB) on two Hub Transport/Client Access servers. (Windows Server 2008/Exchange Server 2007)
I ran across this same problem a couple years ago. The problem was that the NLB appliances did not support FBA (Forms Based Authentication). I was told that without FBA, OWA would not work because, in essence, the http datastream is being split mid-conversation between the two OWA servers. It’s definitely worth investigating your NLB [...]
