We can achieve this on Microsoft Windows by using GPO, can the same be achieved on the MAC?

We are two different companies and we have our own IT infrastructure and IT team. We might have plans to go seperate in the near future but they are still pushing too hard for the integration phase. What is the Disadvatanges/Advantages of such an integration? I would appreciate a detailed answer. Thanks
