I have created a Group Policy for students to restrict certain features in a school lab. The OS is windows 7 pro and the server is 2008 r2. When the student user logs on, the Start button shows “Start” instead of the Windows logo in a circle which is the standard Start button for Windows 7. When I take the user out of the Group Policy and log on again as the same student the default Windows 7 start button reappears. Obviously there is something within the policy settings that is causing this to happen but I can’t determine what it is. Since I have about 100 different settings, preferences in the GPO it is a little hard to determine what is triggering the Start button to change back to the windows xp look. I am not using any of the group policy settings for the windows classic shell. Any idea what may be causing this to happen and what I can do to get the windows 7 start button to show after the student logs on. Thanks for your help.
