I have a client laptop running vista with a built in webcam.

Device manager says the webcam is there.

There is a link in the programs to uninstall it, but no software that uses it.

Unlike a normal camera, it does not appear in the my computer area and I cannot find a link to it anywhere.

I should probably search the manufacturer’s website, but the client has told me she has not removed a single thing from the unit since purchasing it.

Any ideas?

Is there software to send out webcam image with only the face blured/obscured or hidden? There is software that projects a completely false image, that is not what I want. The software would probably have to be able to track the face through movement and even reqcquire the face if it goes offscreen. Alternatively, is there some bluescreen technology so you can paint what ever you wish hidden/obscured blue as they do for movie matte shots?

I’m looking to installing LAN security cameras (IP accessible) at a customers site.
If the cameras had the following features it would be a plus:

E-mail/Page in the case of movement in a protected area.
Recording on movement.
Live Streaming video access from various desktops, both in the domain, and on the internet via password.
Weather proof and easy to hide.

I can look on-line and find plenty, what I really need is people’s experience with these, brands that are good and bad, value and support of the product and the like.

I have a client that needs to be available at two places at one time. She currently alternates days between the offices. I’m looking for a very simple video chat application that will work across the Internet and allow easy video communication between two LAN networks. The system the way they visualize it would have one icon on each computer. You start the application on each system, and it all “just works.” I’m doing this as a favor for a local school system (very small, very limited resources) I want a solution that will not end up becoming a maintenance headache for me. Simplicity is the key word here, some of the users are not that computer savvy, and some of them are more than a bit intimidated by computers.

Thank You!

I want to be able to use a webcam in such a way that if someone passes in front of the webcam, it will pop up on my computer. I have an office on the second floor and want to put my webcam facing over the front door so that the image pops up on my computer automatically so i know who is going in and out of the office. Any suggestions on specific inexpensive webcams and software i would need?
