How does autoQOS work? Is it reliable
Cisco is very good at training and documentation of their products and services they give a full run down on implementation and requirements for their products. Cisco’s tech support is also second to none so check this site out about it and it will give you all the nitty gritty details of what Auto QOS [...]

Electromagnetic Interference on CAT5E
The only data I can scratch up says that 18 v/m had no effect on packets and some people say they ran it close to a 240v power line and had no issues so I do not know the exact theoretical limit until you start getting EMI

High latency, TCP window size, single or multi session
Yes – I have seen situations where a single client and single session are not enough to drive a link to full capacity. Multiple sessions can drive the link to full utilization. And 60ms is not really high latency – my global WAN has links with 200ms or higher latency between locations. See this <a [...]

SIP Trunking
A SIP trunk gives you a termination point for SIP calls to a DID. If you make calls suing standard SIP notification all the time, you don’t need a trunk, and you don’t even need a DID. But it can get tedious typing “ojsimpson@99.98.97.96:5060″ all the time to place a call (and he never calls [...]

Deploying VOIP and QOS
Hi, KarlG. As I understand things, the switches only need to support QOS header info to use it for prioritizing traffic. You would define Classes of service based of DSCP (diffserv) or another supported method, and the switches would respect those. The routers are more of an issue, and the firewall, or any other edge [...]

Can we use a Windows Server 2003 configured as a router to do qos when the switch does not support it?
Short answer: No. If your edge devices do not pass QOS data through to the other end of your calls, all you will accomplish is prioritizing the VoIP traffic internally, on you LAN. If that’s all you want to use the phone system for, then great. I suspect you will actually make outbound calls, and [...]

Can I use a Linksys print server as a bridge or access point?
<ul> Short answer</ul> : <b>Yes</b>! I’d never thought of this before! A wireless print server does normally have a wired ethernet port as well, so why couldn’t you configure the two ports, wireless and wired, in a bridge configuration? Turns out even the stock firmware will do that. Page 16 in the manual for <a [...]

Question about Internet connection speed and VOIP
It’s not necessarily capacity that you need to be concerned about. Granted that capacity may become limited if there are large amounts of data streaming or other traffic filling the pipe.
