We have upgraded a number of Windows XP clients (from MSDE 1 to MSDE 2000) which interact with a clustered SQL server 7 system (running on Windows NT server) via transactional replication. Our problem is that these clients are connected over ISDN dial up lines and since the upgrade we have noted a significant increase in network traffic. Can anyone suggest what might be causing this? Are there any keep alive timers which need to be (re)configured or is there some other configuration required following the change? Is there such a thing as a best practice guide for employing SQL Server communications over dialup lines?
