How do I create a VM with Player without a .vmc file?

I have some vhd files that I have downloaded from Microsoft that I have to run with Player. How do I create a VM with Player without a .vmc file?

I wanted to transfer my Windows XP Home applications and setup to my MacBook running on Leopard OS. After using the free VMware Converter on my PC to create a virtual machine (VM) in an external harddisk and copying it to my MacBook, I realised something else is needed to run it. Do I need to buy and install a new Windows XP Home OS in my MacBook using BootCamp and then install the free VMware Player or Server to run the imported VM?

I’m running MS Virtual PC in VMWare Player so that I can use usb devices. These devices aren’t supported when just operating MS Virtual PC.
My problem is that when I click Player into full screen mode the image of my hosted OS desktop remains at the size it was when Player was in its default size. There’s a small image of the OS desktop surrounded by black i.e. as if the screen resolution setting is incorrect.
Is this the nature of Player or is there a setting I haven’t discovered?

vmware player with win 2000 server

I am running win 2000 server on my virtual machine,on a compaq presario F560US running winXP as host.I have not been able to get drivers for the ethernet controller for the virtual OS.Any ideas?

uninstallation problem VMware Server & console

situation:iinstalled VMware player but i formatted my harddisk and then i downloaded VMware Server free(with reg.key and installed it in WIN vista ultimate 32.During installtion wizard it gives me Error(Rolling back action)then the final Error was (The wizard was interrupted before the VMware Server components could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified.To complete installtion at another time,Please run setup again.)
i ran setup again but the same Error i got every time.i am so much puzzeld with the error.
Q)what should i do now?please help me.

by mistake i installed vmware player for first time and without use it i formated the harddisk then i downloaded the vmware server but during the installation when it reaches the ”copying the files” gives the error something like (previous vmware could installed completely close and start againg) i tried so many times but the same error i have got.and i have downloaded the new server 2.0 but it is also giving me the same error and player give me same error…
Kindly tell me what is happing and tell me the solution so that i could installed it safely for the next time
