Hello,

We currently use biometric authentication (Sagem Morphosmart 1300)on our clinical units in a hospital setting. These COWs are powered by a battery power supply located on the cart and there is no battery in the laptop. We have consistently and frequently experienced USB failures on the biometric devices where staff has to unplug and plug in the biometric device several times per day and eventually the device fails completely. We replace these at an avg rate of 5 devices every 8-10 weeks. Does anyone have any ideas on what may be the cause or if there is a solution that we have not thought of? The biometric devices are working just fine on desktop devices and on COWs that run on laptop battery power.

Regards,

Jodi
