Hi,
I use a Dell Poweredge SC440 as the server in my office. It runs Win 2003 Server Standard Edition as the OS. Recently, we bought a new server dell poweredge 2800 which we are now using. my problem is this:
I wanted to demote the SC440 so it can be used as a workstation, but the active directory will not remove. instead, i get the error message “there are no more end-point mappers from the point you specified” ( I didn’t specify any end-point mappers).

Alternatively, i tried re-installing the OS, but i also get the error message “Windows did not detect any hard disk on this system” (the SC440 runs a virtual disk system).

So, what do I do? How do I get Windows to “see” my hard disks? and how do I remove the Active Directory?

Hi There,

I have a laptop with VMware that I use for product demos, testing stuff & evaluating software.

I have several virtual OS all working fine. But in one of them, a WinXP SP2, I am running out of virtual disk space on the boot partition. I am trying to resize this partition but I have read somewhere that it may not be possible to run fdisk or diskpart directly on the guest OS…

I could just create a brand new Guest OS with a larger partition and move/ghost the stuff over, but I would prefer to keep this one, as it is all nicely setup for the demos & tests, rather than starting from scratch. I am sure you experts will be able to help.

Some details:

- VMware Workstation v4.5.2
- Host OS: Windows XP Pro 5.1.2600, SP2, all patched.
- Guest OS: Windows XP Pro SP2 and mostly up-to-date
- Guest Partitions (virtual disks, i.e. NOT “physical disks”): C: NTFS 3.0 Gb and E: NTFS 1.5 Gb

Thanks in advance,

Hedgehog
