vmware and citrix are both great softwares however i would use the OVM, oracle virtual machine it can do all what a man need in a virtual setup(Vmotion, HA, DR, ect..) its solid its mature and its free…. VMware (HA, Fault Tolerance, Virtualization Security Proucts, vCenter, Request Manager and Orchestrator Workflow management)
Microsoft will catch up eventually. They have a much larger resource pool to draw from than VMware (read that as bank account). However it’s going to take some time for them to catch up as VMware has a solid product and they keep putting great new features into it that Microsoft doesn’t have an answer [...]
When you store data in a 3rd parties cloud you have to assume that the Cloud provider (Microsoft, Amazon, RackSpace, etc) will keep your data secure. If you need to be sure that your data is secure, then a Cloud platform may not be the correct choice. -MrDenny —- It really depends on the application. [...]
How compliance are achieved in the Cloud is still a concern. HIPPA and PCI has been achieved but FDA for Life Science Application will be unlikely in near future… so my question is, Is there any Progress on FDA and Cloud front?

I wouldn’t recommend running SQL on the hosts with the VMs. There will be lost of memory contention issues. If I was setting up this setup I would probably setup mirroring between the two SQL instances. Assuming that the hyper-V servers will be in a cluster, you do know that you need to have a [...]

On XP, type: <b>ipconfig /all</b> What is the line for DHCP server? It should be the correct IP address of your DHCP server, which is 192.168.8.30. If it is, then you did not configure your DHCP server correctly. Your DHCP server needs to be giving out IP address in the same range as your DC, [...]
Hello CiscoEngineer, With that prerequisites the free ESXi will serve you just fine. If you don’t have the “server” for what you want to do, before you buy something incompatible, take a look at ESXi HCL. Some usefull resources for this: http://www.vm-help.com//esx40i/esx40_whitebox_HCL.php http://www.vladan.fr/vmware-hcl-for-esxi-4-0-and-4-1/ . HTH
VMWare Player runs VMs but does not create them. Start VMWare Player and click Open a Virtual Machine to start an existing VM. If you have not copied a VM to the system or created a VM on the system you will need to do so. You can use the virtual software of your choice. [...]
what ever happened with this
I’d be interested to find this out as well. And also if there are recommendations on which ones work better.. thanks! ———– Most software files like VM software are created or developed to be compatible with the most commonly used operating systems. Most compatibility issues are only associated with Operating Systems and not mostly on [...]
Just wondering if there is anyone out there able to assist in this matter please ———————— Something we do relatively frequently: 1) On the Client SonicWall / ASA: – Create Local “user account” – Enable / Create PPTP / L2TP Service on device – Restrict User to certain Host / Subnet on network 2) On [...]
First Method - 5.1 Make sure there is no snapshot attached to virtual disk which you are going to extend. 5.2 Shutdown the VM 5.3 Add a new vmdk file to existing VM with new size. 5.4 Boot the VM into WINPE and then run ghost32.exe 5.5 Select backup and restore to load ghost. 5.6 [...]
Notesini – Is the Domino configuration file stored on the server – c:lotusdominoNotes.ini (I think this is default location for 5). Open the Notes.ini and check for the following lines. I am guessing that the Domino server is trying to configure itself to an IP that is not assigned to the Virtual machine. TCPIP=TCP, 0, [...]

Besides the official line of “data directory on a network drive not supported, blah-blah-blah,” I have seen this arrangement work well. We aren’t running that config here but have had a similar symptom. We suspected roaming Windows profiles and the “cleanup” behavior of Notes roaming – based on first use, not latest use but have [...]
