Virtual machine stack overflow on Windows XP pro

Virtual Machine disconnects from network
Have a strange issue. A couple of VM’s(on the same host) get disconnected from the network. Rebooting the VM or checking/unchecking the “Connected” and “Connected at power ON” option may sometimes work or may not. How do I know when to add capacity to my virtual infrastructure?
What tools and methods do you use to predict when you’ll need to expand capacity in your virtual infrastructure? How do you add VMs effectively to the system and still make sure you’re allocating resources well? Any tips would be appreciated.
