Hi

I have a test network consisting of a windows server 2003 Domain Controller, a windows server 2003 with netbackup 6.5, and a Netapps filer, all on the same isolated VLAN. All windows servers are updated with the latest updates.

I am able to add the Filer under NDMP hosts, and the credentials are verified. But I am not able to add it under the client. I get the error 25 cannot connect on socket. I am able to see the drives and shares in the filer when I run Backup and Restore Wizard. But the backup does not run, failing with an error 236.

All services are running, and no firewalls are enabled.

I have tried everything. gone through the troubleshooting guide. Would appreciate any help. I have also installed Backup Exec and the backups run without any problems.

We would like to move to disk backups this year — Not exactly sure which way to go ( DSSU or VTL or de-duplication)
Was wondering if I can get any kind of suggestions ? – Also Is it possible to decommission NBU at the 2 remote sites and back them up a main Data center .

Here is the suggestion I got from the Veritas sales person -
Having Pure disk agents at the remote sites and backing those clients from main data center — Not sure how feasible and reliable option is this ? Any comments

Thanks in advance

My company is currently merging and we are in need of several NetBackup gurus, as the organizational merger will result in an incrase of 2 Petabytes/month (500 Terabytes/month in Jan. ’04, 1 Petabyte/month as of Apr. ’04). This is a state-of-the art environment supporting 3,000 servers, soon to be upwards of 30,000. We are looking to add 10+ engineers with strict backup focus and about 15% of work will be in redesign. Various locations. Permanent positions. Relocation possible.
