Are Nortel certifications obsolete now that the company is bankrupt?

Now that Nortel is bankrupt and being bought out by Avaya, does this mean my Nortel certifications are obsolete? Or is the situation too inconclusive to tell right now? If it’s too soon to tell, what will the acquisition depend on to make my certifications matter?

I’m also wondering whether Prometric will even keep offering Nortel Certified Design Specialist (NCDS), Nortel Certified Support Specialist (NCSS) or Nortel Certified Technology Specialist (NCTS) exams. Will Nortel’s fall mean I can’t certify for any other Nortel certifications, and wouldn’t they be useless anyways?

Does anyone know of a good place to find people with C#.net experience besides the big job boards? We have several positions in the Financial/Trading industry in Chicago but we are having a hard time finding enough people with this skill set. Computer room storage area shelving?

I’m designing the ‘support area’ for a lights-out room. It will house spares for several groups and vendors, patch cables, and a visiting tech or two sometimes.

I’m looking for leads on good shelving and cabinetry vendors for equipment storage. Lockable cages (so contents are visible but not accessible to all) might be good. Anyone done this and have other ideas for this environment? In our current d.c. we use 40 linear feet of 2′ deep cabinetry for spares and other junk. The new area may need a similar amount of space.

Hello everyone,

I am doing a project called Implementation of SAP R/3 at Cyclone Singapore Pty Ltd–Company code 0002.

I create vendors in accounting, using account group 0001 which is internal number assignment. How to change account group 0001 using external number assignment, so I can find an appropriate abbreviation of the vendor name to be used as vendor number?

Pros and Cons for integrated SAP Payroll vs. 3rd party

We are in the process of scoping out an upgrade project and would like to consider the pros and cons of using a 3rd party source for payroll versus integrating SAP payroll.

Also would like to know pros and cons of Payroll being on same instance versus separate instance as HR.

802.11 vs 802.16

I have a small co. with a point to point wireless grid. I handle off site monitoring of gas nad oil flow. I have been overlaping my grid with new locations, and more to come. So I have been looking into new wireless Sys. I have made the choice to use All-In-One?360 Multi-Band/Multi-Mode Antenna WiMAX Ready. It will take a few to replace my hole grid. Now with my new antennas in place I have full cover of about 30 miles. Trying to stay with new techknowledge I will be useing 802.11 or 801.16. This will all so give me a chance to start up a WISP. So my question is…What do I need to start up? and what tpye should I use? If any could help me with this first step it would help me get started Faster.

A retail company is planning to implement IBM Rational Unified Process for its business which runs on i-Series. Please let me know how well RUP can be implemented here. How well RUP works for i-Series software development? What are the tailoring to be done to this process for i-Series? Also, please comment on the RUP tools that can be implemented here.

Network Resource Allocation cum Planning cum Technical Problem

This is the real commercial problem face by my company. Well, the reason I ask this problem is I salute and respect all of you as I believe all of you are as good as network solution company out there, or even better!!

Lets me rephrase the entire problem again.

Company expand so fast that the IT infrastructure is not fast enough to cater high volume of traffic; the initial design is not scalable. The number of new branch offices setup caused the company pay a high price in the leased line communication.
Salesman and management staffs dial into company networks via 56K modem to access the database server and update the sale order. All the branch offices access the internet via HQ and download email via the external POP3 email server.
Plan to revamp their IT infrastructure and reduce the leased line access cost. Here are some of the feedbacks consolidated from the various country managers and local salesman.
1) The email downloading and sending is very slow. They receive a lot of spam email this caused their individual mailbox quota use up very fast.
2) The sales and marketing departments need to access the internet to search for latest news and market trends. But the internet speed is very slow. These people are irritated by spywares and popup often.
3) The File transfer and Database access is very slow even in the local area networks.

I decided to put the real network cum equipment diagram of my current company as I believe this will at least give INSIGHT in solving the problem.

Now I plan to improve the IT infrastructure to cater for future expansion up to 10 countries. SAP will be implement to automate the overall company operation. Also expect 3rd party to access their server to submit and view sale order.

Any suggestion and opinion? What is your comment after looking at my network and its insfrastructure (from the diagrams on http://www.hgym.photosite.com )
